End of year celebrations

End of year celebrations

Following a two-year COVID break it was therapeutic to reunite the team for another “Vouch's Kitchen” – our long-held cooking class tradition led by in-house gourmand, Vouch Lim.

Really an excuse to get together outside of work and eat good food, Vouch led us on a Moroccan journey this year with some tempting slow-cooked dishes. May there be many more cuisines explored in future!

Office Manager, Linda Sawers, capably handled rolling restriction changes throughout 2021

1/1 Office Manager, Linda Sawers, capably handled rolling restriction changes throughout 2021

In another year typified by flux, we experienced plenty of change in the R&Y office. After bidding Michelle farewell at this time last year, Linda Sawers joined the team as our new Office Manager in January. Linda’s warm and ordered approach to administration management has been a seamless change for us all, and we thank her for her support with all of the COVID-imposed restrictions and working modifications this year.

In case you missed it, Scott and Bettina confirmed their registrations in August and September, joining the official architect fold. Georgie Warren joined us full-time in 2021 after two years working part-time while completing her studies. Early in the year we celebrated Hari’s engagement to her partner, Ben, and welcomed back Lauren from maternity leave in May.

In other R&Y baby news, former R&Y staff member, Rachel Lindberg (nee Wood) and her partner, Fredrik, welcomed baby Otto into the world in June. We send our best wishes across the seas to the new family.

Tal Graham has now completed the first year of his digital apprenticeship with R&Y. This new course, organised through the Australian Industry Group, trains students in advanced computing, and we are already experiencing the office-wide benefits of his skills in BIM programming and integration.

We also welcomed Geoffrey Baddams to our team in October. Geoffrey recently finished his architectural studies at the University of Adelaide. Keep an eye out for his formal introduction in our first newsletter for 2022! Not yet a subscriber? Scroll our homepage to sign up.

It’s been a white-knuckled ride at times, but we’ve had a very productive 2021 at R&Y. Our office will close from Thursday, 23 December and open again on Monday, 10 January. Until then, we wish all our clients and collaborators a safe and restful break with friends and family. We look forward to designing for community with you in 2022.
